Accessory essentials series: Eyewear

As much as I love discovering the perfect clothing pieces to add to my wardrobe, accessories are arguably the unsung hero of the fashion world. From adding a touch of glam for that long awaited night out, toughing up your look with edgy statement pieces, or simply bringing a much needed breath of fresh air to what might otherwise feel like a tired and over-worn outfit, accessories are the perfect way to add that finishing touch to any style.

In the first instalment in my essential accessories series, I’m talking about one of the most important accessories heading into spring and summer – sunglasses.

When I’m on the hunt for the perfect pair of sunglasses, I love pieces that pack a style punch and make a sartorial statement without the designer price tag.

Enter Proof Eyewear.

An eco-brand that deliver fashionable yet sustainable eyewear, Proof Eyewear sunglasses are made from sustainable and repurposed wood and skate boards, so their handcrafted wooden sunglasses are not only a socially conscious solution, but also offer a unique take on stylish sunglasses. Even better, they donate a percentage of their profits to various community projects in India, El Salvador, Nepal, the Philippines and Uganda.

I was lucky enough to collaborate with the Proof Eyewear team on their latest campaign, and I couldn’t go past these babies from their Fairview collection.

As someone with a penchant for black (I do live in Melbourne after all!) the colour way of these sunglasses are so versatile that they automatically work with everything in my wardrobe. I styled them with my two classic palettes: black white and grey, and of course my favourite, all black.

I especially love them with my all black outfit, as the white in the sunglasses really pops and adds a stark focal point to my all black ensemble that elevates the outfit in a way that allblack sunnies wouldn’t.

What I also love about these sunnies is how lightweight they are – you barely notice you’re wearing them, and no more annoying marks or dents on my nose after only 5 minutes! The lens is also 100% UVA and UVB protected which is perfect in the Australian sun.

Thank you Proof Eyewear!

Stay tuned for the next instalment in my essential accessories series, coming soon.
