Light and bright lips

As striking as a bold dark lip can be, there’s something about a bright pop of lipstick that always wins out for me. Whether it’s because I wear a lot of black and navy and need at least some colour in my outfits, or because I’m so pale the dark lipsticks tend to make me look like a vampire, a bright coloured lipstick is my go-to in any season. And with spring fast approaching there’s no better time to share my favourite shades, all year round.

From top to bottom:

Mac Retro Matte lipstick in ‘Flat Out Fabulous’

This pop of bright pink is my favourite way to brighten up my outfits and is my current go-to for day or night. The gorgeous magenta pink colour manages to look playful yet chic at the same time, and the staying power must be seen to be believed!

Bobbi Brown Art Stick in ‘Harlow Red’

I used to sit strongly in the orange-red-tone-only camp when it came to red lip colours, but this Art Stick single-handedly changed my mind. This blood red is glamour at its finest  (it’s actually a lot darker than in the photos) and the texture feels great on the lips. And if it looks familiar, it’s because I’ve raved about it on the blog before!

Nars Satin Lip Pencil in ‘Lodhi’

My go-to pencil for those times when I want a bit of colour but don’t want it to overpower my look, this subtle yet bright coral shade is perfect for my daily activities like work, brunch, and the occasional photoshoot. I’m already onto my second one!

Clinique Chubby Stick in ‘Plushest Punch’

This colour is fun and playful and goes with almost any colour outfit thanks to its versatility; the stick can be used with a gentle hand for just a swipe of colour, or can be made more vibrant with an extra layer or two.
