The backpack is back

Only a few years ago, the thought of owning, let alone wearing, a backpack was not a pleasant one. While I could appreciate the practicality of a backpack, the designs conjured up images of my high school backpack and I couldn’t see myself pairing one with anything in my existing wardrobe. That was until I spotted this Repetto backpack while overseas in 2014 and instantly fell in love with its rose gold accents, versatility and minimalist aesthetic.

Since then, there’s no arguing that backpacks are back in a big way. From high street looks to high end designs, the humble backpack can now be found in the most unexpected of places, and if you find the right one it can be the perfect addition to any wardrobe and a great way to change up your style. From chic to bohemian to androgynous to street, the different sizes, features and colours of a backpack can help create a completely different look. (Bonus points to the backpack for also freeing up your hands, hello Instagram!)

When it came to taking some photos of my Repetto backpack, I knew I wanted to play up the edginess of the matte black leather rather than the femininity of the satin bow. So I paired it with my leather skirt and ventured out to my local skatepark for some early morning escapades! I’m looking forward to wearing it next with jeans and a white shirt for a more relaxed ‘off-duty’ look. I’ve also rounded up a few of my other favourites at the end of the post to help get you inspired.
